SNSD will host their own TV show with new cable channel jTBC, it was announced on November 15. The show tentatively titled “SNSD Show” will have all nine members as the main host, making them the first K-Pop girl group to have their own show. In Japan, idol band SMAP has their own TV show, “SMAP X SMAP,” but no idol band has hosted its own show in Korea yet.
The show is scheduled to air every Sunday from 7PM to 9:10PM. The broadcaster declined to mention the exact date of the show’s first episode, but it is expected to be soon as jTBC is launching its channel on December 1. By picking the hottest prime time slot, jTBC is expected to start a fierce Sunday night TV ratings battle with some of the major network channels. In the same time slot, KBS airs “One Night and Two Days” while MBC shows “I Am a Singer.”
jTBC is a new cable channel run by JoongAng Daily, one of the top three newspapers in the country. They will start airing “Padam Padam,” starring Jung Woo Sung and Kim Bum, in December.
